They are the better choice when most of your list uses Outlook or Microsoft 365. Many teams split their fleet between Google and Microsoft by domain to match their list.

What is a Microsoft 365 tenant and why does it matter?

The tenant is the Microsoft organisation that holds the mailboxes. If the provider keeps the tenant (and its global admin), you cannot move the mailboxes. Ask who owns the tenant and accepted domain.
